The portal mostly concerns Biology and Ecology, with particular emphasis to Zoology. Research and hypertextual lessons of the course of Zoology, at the University of L' Aquila (Italy), are presented, including information, documentation and images, together with a list of the most interesting web pages regarding the Zoology. A directory of the Italian Zoology taxonomists is also provided.

The site includes as well a Copepod Web Portal with exaustive and updated information regarding this group of crustaceans, viz. systematics, checklists, bibliography, reviews of subterranean species, and linkages to other relevant web sites on copepods such as "The World of Copepods" at the Smithsonian Institution.

Particularly, the portal covers systematics, with particular regard to groundwater species, ecology, distribution maps, description of habitats, together with links and a checklist of Italian species. Moreover, the site offers a directory of World copepodologists, as well as updated reviews of some copepod groups inhabiting ground waters. Other sections contain references and numerous external links to online journals and other sites of interest to groundwater copepod researchers.

In another part of this web site complete and updated information on the Stygobiology in the World is presented: particularly an introduction to the Groundwater Biology, lists of the main subterranean taxa, references and links to other fundamental web sites on Stygobiology, such as the "Anchialine Caves and Cave Fauna of the World" by T. M. Iliffe, the "The Biology of Caves, Karst, and Groundwater" from The University of Texas at Austin, and "Groundwater - an unknown habitat" from Carl von Ossietzky University, Oldenburg.

A massive documentation, numerous images and reviews of the most important Italian caves are also presented. A special section is related to the "Zinzulusa Cave" (south Italy), one of the most biologically relevant anchialine cave in the World, nominated in 1999 in the top ten list of "World Endangered Karst Ecosystems", by the Karst Water Institute C. Town WV, U.S.A.

A smaller part of the portal is dedicated to World Sea Shells, the Botanical Garden and the Alpine Garden at Gran Sasso (L' Aquila, Italy).

The site is completed with news from the University of L' Aquila (Faculty of Sciences), and generalist information: biological software, antivirus protection, graphics, multimedia, LCD DLP projectors, forums and movies editing (DVD, S-Video CD, etc.).
